THE GREEN FROG RESTAURANT Lee Ave. Waycross, Ga. 7 Miles North of Okefenokee Swamp Park. Approved by AAA & Recommended by Duncan Hines. (Okefenokee?) Posted by Hello
In the late 60's and early 70's, we used to always go to this restaurant on the way home from visiting my grandma and grandpa in Florida over Spring Break each year. (We lived near Chicago - they lived in St. Pete.) In the days before Game Boys and I Pods - there was nothing to do in the car for hours and hours at a time. My sister bought a green frog (a precursor to Beanie Babies) at the restaurant as a souvenier and named him "Mergatroid." We played with that thing for hours and hours. I don't know why I was thinking about it today, but I Googled it and here it was! Another thing I remember is that they had this big frog that you got to pick a little toy out of when you left the restaurant. That's probably why it sticks in my mind - any place with free toys was huge.... Turns out the guy who opened it, went on to start Darden Restaurants, which owns Red Lobster and Olive Garden, among others. Amazing from such humble beginnings! Thanks for the memories.

Dear Anonymous,
Just part of a series of post cards I posted last year after my brother gave me a box full of postcards. Tell us about the restaurant!
