Dear Parent: Thank you for submitting your labels to the school to help us earn points for school equipment like basketballs, art supplies, books and computers. Please remember that another parent has volunteered her precious time to organize the labels into neat stacks to send to the vendor. After that, an employee will be required to count and stack the labels. You might want to improve your methods.

That's all I'm sayin'.

I didn't know schools still did that. I remember doing that as a child. My mom was always meticulous about the way she would cut the labels, slicing them with a knife and carefully peeling them off.

I guess these days they just rip them off. In a way, I guess it's good that they are willing to still send them, but I can also see their point.

Actually, that was MY point. I'm the designated stacker and counter. This gem was quite a surprise. Either the parent didn't think about someone else having to deal with this or she DID think about it and just didn't care. hmmmph.

Well...

In defense of the 'mom'...

I have to say that I am not in charge of the soup labels at our house.

I make the kids take responsibility for them...

but...

at school, the kids are also responsible for the organization of said labels too.

Sorry Jan. I misunderstood the post. I actually thought that was a picture you just found on the Internet. I figured nobody could be THAT ratty with a soup label. I guess I was wrong. I can't believe it was sent to you that way.

T.J. is also right. Some kids aren't that careful in handling things like that. I have received many an item from Anthony's school. You should see the condition of some of the stuff he brings home, and I know they didn't give it to him that way.

Ha! So, maybe I shouldn't view this as callous disregard for the little people, but a gift of art! Yeah, that's the ticket!

T.J. - I should turn this into a student project, but I get some weird satisfaction out of cutting, sorting and stacking. It is a sickness!

Also, I'm really not as bitter as my post implies. Mostly just incredulous.

I have a bunch of these things for you: mostly from Goldfish. One day I will find them all and give them to you, preferably before your boys graduate from High School.

You can still do that.

Just get the kids to straighten it and organize it for you.

Then they will see the trouble that it causes because of their inattentativeness. (Is that a word?)

Perhaps the person was just ashamed of their choice in soup. I know that every time I have Cream of Kitten, I'm so afraid of what the neighbors will think, I cut off the labels and crumple them up just like this one.

Normally I would burn them, but what with the burn ban & all, I have been given over to the double-handed crumple.

PS Do you still have the little kittens, just hungry, uh, I mean... curious.
