Let me recommend this most beautiful children's book about a crow. A Russian family finds the crow in the park wth a broken wing and brings it home to nurse it back to health. The veterinarian recommends euthanasia (which part I delete when reading to my children), but the family persists and keeps the bird home until it heals. The bird's antics had my children laughing out loud. I like the artistry of the book. There is, after all, no reason to deprive children of beauty.
