This is Mamie. She has been my cat for about 16 years. When Colin was born, she lived up to her name. She was always in the room with Colin and would come to get me if he needed anything. She watched over him carefully. She did the same with Spencer. She's a good cat. Her liver is failing her, though. She will be euthanized today. We will miss her beyond words.

Hi! I saw that you visited my site and thought I would return the favor!

My goodness! What an emotionally draining day you've had with your Dad and your Mamie.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. I have two precious furry friends (one of which is 15) and just the thought of doing what you had to do makes me cry.

In addition, I've had a parent in hospice before.

So, please know that this random person on the internet is thinking and praying for you and your family tonight.

A cyber friend called what happened to Mamie "that sweet poison". To go to sleep with someone you love nearby--there's lots worse ways to go. kdip

There was a time when communities would seek counsel from the elders. More experience usually translated into lessons learned. Having picked up a pearl of wisdom here and there over the years, I am now able to share a thought or two. The main lesson is to never stop learning. Seeking other points of view and new ideas like visiting your blog are steps in the right direction. Finding what is ultimately important leads one to appreciate actuality, efficiency and mindfulness. Helping others to see some of the forest through the trees is its own reward. happy thoughts
