Beautiful Day

August 27, 2006: My first born was baptized.

It was one of those days that is almost too precious to describe. . . one of those days you anticipate for years. . . one of those days that is gone in an instant.

Colin was radiant and joyful. It was beautiful.

I love, LOVE watching someone who has decided to give their life to Christ being baptized. Every single time, tears spring to my eyes and it crosses my mind how wonderful it will be when I can watch my own children make that choice. Congratulations on the being there for the most important day in your son's life! (Great picture!)

Congratulations. I can only imagine how proud you must be and what an amazing experience it is to watch your child be baptized. Like Katrina said, I get chills when I watch a total stranger's baptism, but I will probably be a blubbering mess when my children make that decision.

It also speaks volumes about the kind of parents you and James are and the values you have taught your children. May God continue to bless your family.

Thank you, Katrina and Blair. I always cry at baptisms, too...but I didn't cry at Colin's. Isn't that strange? Perhaps it is because I had studied with him, talked with him and prayed with him and the actual baptism was simply a culmination of everything. Other baptisms are somewhat of a surprise.

I did cry after the baptism, though, when we sang a song that was sung at our wedding. It was amazing that our wedding song was chosen by one who never knew it was our wedding song to sing on the day of our son's baptism. That was a gift from God, to be sure.

I'm sorry we weren't there too! How wonderful!

What was the song?

Ironically, it was "How Beautiful."
